Summary

"Ubiquitous computing" - the ubiquitous availability of information technology in our environments and devices of our everyday life - allows new forms of cooperation between man and technology. The aim of our group is the development of methods that allow smart devices to support people in everyday life. This includes smart working environments, but also medical assistance systems are an increasingly important field of application.

In our research we focus on the following research areas:

      • Ubiquitous Computing & Ambient Intelligence
      • Intelligent and cooperative assistance systems
      • Activity- and intention-recognition
      • Statistical inference methods and machine learning approaches

We apply our tools and methods to problems within the following application domains:

      • Supporting people with cognitive impairments and their Carers
      • Supporting people with musculo-sceletal impairments
      • Smart Environments and Ambient Assisted Living
      • Workfloor Assistance
